Abstract

The article discusses the main approaches to the remediation of
territories disturbed by opencast coal mining. The authors discuss the existing
standardization system establishing the remediation approaches including technical
and biological stages. The case study was performed for increasing the efficiency
of conservation and restoration of biological diversity in regions with opencast coal
mining using the example of an artificial forty-year-old pine plantation confined to
the subtaiga of the eastern edge of the Kuznetsk Basin, an experiment was
conducted to adjust the restorative successions in an artificial pine plantation. The
results of the experiment showed that in the studied areas the structure of the
vegetation cover and the floristic composition of the pine plantation underwent
significant qualitative and quantitative changes over five years, that is, a restorative
succession of the forest type was noted in the observation areas.
